Simultaneous interpreting is the type that is practised particularly in conferences, the speaker talks and at the same time is listened to in other languages over headphones. It requires two interpreters, who work in turns from booths.

Liaison interpreting is used in private or business meetings. It consists of enabling communication between two or more parties who do not speak the same language, relaying to each party in their own language what the other has just said in theirs.
